Watercolor Pastels
I tried something new---- Watercolor Pastel. I always try new art techniques but rarely fall in love with them. Recently however, I tried an underpainting of watercolor and worked on the details with pan pastel. I always avoided the pastel sticks because they create lots of dust. The pan pastels are creamy and they work beautifully over a base coat of watercolor.
The third step is to add details with a Color Pencil. I use Faber Castell. I am sharing a few of my new pieces. The Hydrangea is not quite finished. It is important to use pastel paper or a paper with some gritty tooth like Clairfontaine. Apply a spray fixative to the surface when the piece is completely finished.
